Janae Marie Talks with Canvas Rebel

CR: Janae, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

JM: Growing up as an only child I spent a lot of time alone. So, to escape boredom I read plenty of books. At the age of 13 I started writing poetry. Then a few years later I began writing books. Reading my favorite urban fiction books really inspired me to tap into my own creative outlet.

When I got to college at Wayne State University I researched how to self-publish my own books. At the age of 25 I published my first book. Shortly after, I published 2 more. So I’d published 3 books before the age of 30. That was one of my biggest accomplishments. A couple of years later, 2 more books were also published. I am currently working on a couple books to be published in the future.

I later started Janae’s Closet | Boutique Shop to promote self-confidence, self-esteem and self-awareness within the African American community.

Leilani's Secret-Meet Leilani Jaidell

I was coming home from another long night of rehearsal, of “Fighting Back” a current Hollywood movie that I’m working on. The rain and thunderstorm had gotten worse as I turned to pull up the driveway. Luckily, I had my umbrella lying in the back seat. I checked to see what time it was, and my digital clock read to me: 1:15am. I couldn’t believe that the time had flown past like that. I hoped Leon was still in bed sleep so I could sneak into the house unnoticed.

Ryder's Block-Meet Ryder Daniels

My name is Ryder Marie Daniels. A writer from Chicago. I struggled to get to be the bad chick that I am right now. I been through it all. Trust me baby, you wouldn’t want to walk through my damn shoes that’s for sure. You know they say a little girl’s first best friend is her mother and her first love is her daddy. But not for me…I never met my father and as for my mother…let me tell you the story of how a chaotic relationship with my egg donor turned me into a force to be wrecking with.
